— Good morning, pupils. I’m glad to see you, sit down please.

T: How are you today?

P 1 : I’ fine, thank you. How are you today?

P 2 : I’m so-so, thank you.

Well, look at the screen. There is a poem on it. First I read and you listen to me very attentively [слайд 1]:

Here are nine planets that we know.

Round and round the Sun they go.

Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars,

These are the planets near our star.

Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, too.

Neptune, Pluto, we can’t see you.

Here are nine planets that we know.

Round and round the Sun they go.

— Now please read it all together after me by one line. Very well. Now, one by one by one line, begin please. Great! So, let’s try to translate this poem. Try to guess now what is the theme of our lesson?

— Cosmos, planets, cosmonaut…

-Yes, you are right! The theme of our lesson is “Cosmos” [слайд 2].

Today we’ll speak about cosmos, planets, and famous people, learn new words and watch an interesting video.

-Какие ассоциации у вас вызывает слово «космос»? Что вы представляете, когда слышите это слово?

-Планеты, ракеты, звезды, небо, Гагарин…

-You are quite right. First, let’s meet with planets. How many planets are there in the cosmos?

-You are right! Now let’s remember them in Russian.

-Меркурий, Венера, Земля, Марс, Юпитер, Сатурн, Уран, Нептун, Плутон.

-Now look at these names in English (карточки с названиями планет на английском языке). Let’s read them all together after me:

Now let’s read them by one row after me. Well done! Please, rewrite these words in your dictionaries.

— There are more new words and interesting pictures on the screen, look there please [слайды 3-5]. What is on these pictures? What is it?

-Planet, comet, sun, cosmonaut, star…

-Yes, you are right Let’s read these words all together after me.

Are you tired? Let’s have a rest, stand up please and sing a song “Clap your hands”[слайд 6]:

Stamp, stamp, stamp your feet,

Stamp your feet together.

Touch, touch, touch your ears,

Touch your ears together.

Touch, touch, touch your cheek,

Now look at the blackboard. There are your pictures about cosmos. We’ll see how you image cosmos. I offer you to choose 3 the most beautiful and interesting pictures for I put an excellent mark to the author.

-Now let’s remember people or animals that played an important role in the history of space technology and exploration.

-Гагарин, Королев, Белка и Стрелка…

-You are right! Look at the screen, there are some pictures and names on it, let’s speak about them [слайды 7-13]. Who are these people? Do you know who the first woman in cosmos was? А вы знали, что Гагарин бывал на родине языка, который мы с вами изучаем? Он даже был приглашен на ужин к английской королеве!

Now I offer you to watch an interesting film about Gagarin and England. Watch and listen very attentively [слайд 14].

-Did you like the film?

-Yes, we did./No, we didn’t.

-What is this video about?

-About the monument.

План — конспект урока в 8 классе по разделу «Замечательная планета, на которой мы живем».

Тема урока: «Exploring Space».

Тип урока: комбинированный.

Познавательный аспект — увеличение объема знаний о космосе, космических исследованиях.

Развивающий аспект — развитие познавательных и творческих способностей учащихся, способности к сравнению и сопоставлению полученных знаний, способности логически излагать.

Воспитательный аспект — повышение интереса к изучению английского языка, воспитание культуры языкового общения, уважительного отношения друг к другу, умение внимательно слушать собеседника.

Учебный аспект – развитие речевых умений.

— совершенствование речевых умений по теме;

-совершенствование умений аудировать с целью извлечения необходимой информации;

-совершенствование умений читать текст с детальным пониманием;

-совершенствование умений навыка письма.

  1. Организационный момент. Приветствие – 1 мин.

T: -Good morning, students!

T: -I am glad to see you.

P: -We are glad to see you too.

T:-Thank you, children. And how are you? (называю имена детей)

P1: -I am fine. Thank you. And you?

T: — I am fine, too, thank you.

T: — Well, let’s start our lesson.

  1. Сообщение цели урока – 5 мин.

T: -Children, look through these pictures and suppose the theme of our lesson. I am sure you guess about it very easily.

Учащиеся просматривают слайды и высказывают предположения о теме урока.

P1: -I think that I am not mistaken. It’s the exploration of space. Pictures are devoted to the scientific researches in this field. (Слайды №№ 2, 3, 4)

T: — OK. Your supposition is right.

T: -If you are ready, let’s start .Open your books on page 20, exercise 64. Write down your answers in your Workbook.

Учащиеся читают вопросы из упражнения 64 страница 20 и отвечают на них в макете рабочей тетради — задание №1.

-Who was the first person to invent the idea of space rockets?

-Who constructed the first spaceship?

-Who was the first man to take a walk in space?

-Who was the first man on the Moon?

-Who was the first woman in space?

T: -Now, please, listen to the tape and find if you were right.

Учащиеся слушают аудиозапись упражнения 64 на странице 20 и проверяют свои ответы (слайд№5).

T: -If you look through your answers, change your sheets of paper and check them.

Учащиеся обмениваются работами и проверяют их.

P1: -Yuri Gagarin was the first cosmonaut.

P2: -Konstantin Tsiolkovsky was the first person to invent the idea of space rockets.

T: -OK. We are going to speak about space exploration.

P: -As I know the 12 th of April is Space Day in Russia.

T: -You are quite right.

T: -Let’s continue our work with doing a phonetic drill. Open you books on page13, exercise 34. Read the words. Find the same words in Russian.

5. Аудирование. 5 мин

T: -I want to offer you to listen to the teenagers speaking about space exploration.

Учащиеся слушают аудиозапись упражнения 66 страница 20 (слайд 9).

T: — Complete the following sentences. The first letters of the missing words will help you.

(Учащиеся слушают текст и выполняют задание № 4 в макете рабочей тетради.)

T: — If you are ready, let’s check your answers:

Учащиеся проверяют свои ответы, используя слайды №№ 10, 11,12.

T: -Boys and girls, will you answer my questions about space exploration?

P2: People pollute the environment. And the most important problem is air pollution.

T: — I suppose that it’s very interesting to know more about the famous cosmonaut. I offer you to read the text.

It was on the 12 th of April, 1961, when the first flight by man into cosmic space took place. Yuri Gagarin, the first cosmonaut in the world, was a 27-year old Air Force pilot at that time.

The spaceship flew at the speed of 300 miles a minute. That’s six times faster than man ever travelled before. His flight lasted 108 minutes, but a circuit round the Earth took 89 minutes.

It was a brilliant achievement on the part of our scientists and technologists, and on the part of Yuri Gagarin who risked his life to achieve a victory for his country and mankind.

This is what Yuri Gagarin said at his press conference: «On my flight the ‘day’ side of the Earth was clearly seen: the continents, islands, seas, and big rivers. Flying over the land I could clearly see the big squares of fields, and it was possible to distinguish which meadow and which was forest. I could not see as well as from an airplane, but very, very well though.

I saw for the first with my own eyes the Earth’s spherical shape. I must say that the view of the horizon is very beautiful. You can see the noticeable change from the light surface of the Earth to the completely black sky in which you can see the stars. This transition, from light blue to dark, is very gradual and lovely.

I did not see the Moon. In space the sun shines ten times more brightly than on the Earth. The stars can be seen very well.

I felt excellent as I entered space. When weightlessness developed, everything was easier to do. My legs and arms weighed nothing. Objects swam in the cabin.

The passage back from weightlessness to the force of gravity happened smoothly. Arms and legs feel the same as during weightlessness, but now they have weight.

Домашнее задание. Подведение итогов.

T: -Students, you have learnt a lot of useful and interesting information about space exploration. I advise you to divide into 2 groups: the students from the first group will write down the article about one of the cosmonauts; the students from the second group will create an interview with one of the cosmonauts. You can use exercise 67, page 20. It will be your homework. I advise you to use the Internet Resources:

T: — let’s stop there. Open your diaries and write down your homework, please. You have worked very well.

T: -Children, I wonder, what do you know at our lesson? What new information have you learned from today’s lesson?

P2: -I think that space research helps people to solve different medical and scientific problems.
