Май Танияма, шестнадцатилетняя ученица средней школы, любит потусоваться со своими друзьями, которые не прочь на досуге попугать друг друга страшными историями о приведениях.

Одним таким вечером Мичуру стал рассказывать историю об их школе. Вернее, о старом здании школы, от которой осталась только полуразвалившаяся деревянная пристройка.

Оказалось, от этих руин невозможно избавиться. Машины рядом с ними глохли, рабочие тяжело заболевали или гибли под обломками рушащихся на них стен. Некоторые из учеников видели бродившего в здании призрака с белым лицом.

Одним зимним днем рассерженный мальчик стоял посреди улицы и озирался вокруг. Мальчика привлекла рука, манившая его. Словно завороженный, пошатываясь, он последовал за рукой, неожиданно проскользнув в другой мир, мир Двенадцати королевств.

Тайки очутился в королевстве Тай, где ему сообщили, что он — кирин. В отсутствии знаний и должного руководства, руководствуясь лишь внутренним чувством, ему предстоит выбрать короля для королевства Тай среди десятков претендентов, мужчин и женщин.

Shadow of the Moon, the Sea of Shadow

The Shadow of the Moon, the Sea of Shadow is the first arc of the Twelve Kingdoms anime. It is primarily based on the first book of the series, The Twelve Kingdoms: Sea of Shadow (with a brief segment including a plot line from the third book, The Twelve Kingdoms: The Vast Spread of the Seas), and introduces the world of the Twelve Kingdoms and a number of major characters in the series. The anime expands the novel’s perspective by including Yuka Sugimoto and Ikuya Asano as travellers to the Twelve Kingdoms to be foils and to externalize the struggles felt by the protagonist, Youko Nakajima.

Youko Nakajima, an ordinary high school student who tries hard not to stand out and cause trouble, is suddenly spirited away to a place called the Twelve Kingdoms along with classmates Yuka Sugimoto and Ikuya Asano when she is forced into accepting a pact from a mysterious man called Keiki.

As the trio struggle to survive in the new world and attempt to find Keiki, they become separated and turn against one another when it becomes apparent that only Youko was meant to come to the Twelve Kingdoms. Sugimoto, the only one who wants to stay, becomes a puppet in a conspiracy in which a despairing king desperately wants to kill Youko before she learns something important about herself. When Youko and Asano are separated, Youko is forced to struggle on her own and find her own way in the world where she has no allies.

• Youko Nakajima, the protagonist of the series, an ordinary schoolgirl who desperately wants to stay out of trouble and return home after being spirited away to the Twelve Kingdoms
• Keiki, a mysterious man who recognizes Youko as his master and forcibly brings her to the Twelve Kingdoms, but is separated from her before he can explain why
• Yuka Sugimoto, Youko’s classmate, an outcast who thrives on fantasy novels and believes it is her destiny to come to Twelve Kingdoms
• Ikuya Asano, Youko’s childhood friend and classmate, as well as Sugimoto’s boyfriend, an apathetic young man who finds himself divided between his loyalties to Youko and Sugimoto
• Rakushun, a Hanjyuu, an individual who is physically half-human and half-beast, he becomes Youko’s first true friend in the Twelve Kingdoms
• King Kou, the ruler of the kingdom of Kou, who desperately wants to kill Youko
• Kourin, the advisor of the King of Kou, who tries in vain to dissuade him from trying to kill Youko
• Enki, a boy observing the events in the kingdom of Kei who suspects the current ruler is a pretender to the throne, revealed to the advisor to the king of En
• Shoryu, the king of En, observing the events in the kingdom of Kei
• Bishin, Kuyo, and other travelling performers
• Ritsuko and Masashi Nakajima, Youko’s parents

Luna Sea (stylized as LUNA SEA) is a Japanese rock band formed in Kanagawa Prefecture in 1986. Due to the use of make-up and costumes early in their career and their widespread popularity, they are considered one of the most successful and influential bands in the visual kei movement. [1] Throughout the mid-1990s they used significantly less make-up, and after a one-year break in 1997, came back with a more mainstream alternative rock style and toned down their on-stage attire. They disbanded in 2000. In 2003, HMV Japan ranked Luna Sea at number 90 on their list of the 100 most important Japanese pop acts. [2]

Initially founded in 1986, by bassist J and rhythm guitarist Inoran while in high school, the band was originally called Lunacy. In 1989 they recruited lead guitarist Sugizo, drummer Shinya and vocalist Ryuichi, a lineup that has remained the same. They released a few demo tapes prior to renaming themselves Luna Sea and releasing their self-titled debut album in 1991. The band achieved their breakthrough success with a sold-out tour in 1991, which helped them get a contract with MCA Victor, and with the release of their second album Image (1992), which reached number nine on the Oricon music chart. Following the critically acclaimed albums Eden (1993), Mother (1994) and Style (1996), the band switched to Universal in 1998 and released their best-selling studio album, Shine. In late 2000, after their seventh studio album Lunacy, Luna Sea disbanded.

Luna Sea reunited for a one-off reunion concert in 2007 at the Tokyo Dome, and again in 2008 for the hide memorial summit. In 2010 the group officially reunited and held a world tour, and three years later they released their first new album in thirteen years, A Will. Their ninth album, Luv, followed four years later in 2017. At the end of 2019, their tenth album Cross co-produced by Steve Lillywhite became their first to top Billboard Japan.
